A bungalow house located in a quiet subdivision in Tanauan City, Batangas. A residence that was envisioned to be the young owner’s dream home that can also serve as an airbnb. The owner wanted the house to have Japanese aesthetics and Japanese inspired spaces.
Since the theme of the house was Japanese, the design features genka and engawa. There are also wide sliding doors that open to the garden and swimming pool which are reminiscent of shoji doors. The finishes of the house are mainly neutral colors and wood contrasted with charcoal-colored tiles on some areas.
The house was designed to be simple, inviting and cozy but also innovative. The upper part of the wall uses polycarbonate as cladding that covers the trusses. It provides protection and also ambient natural lighting during the day. The translucent material also transforms the house into a beacon of light during night time which adds more visual interest to this seemingly uncomplicated home.
