This tropical architecture-inspired house is located in an exclusive subdivision that boasts of private coves and white sand beaches. This four-bedroom vacation house features a fusion of vernacular and modern architecture, as requested by the owners, who wanted a Balinese-inspired house with a Filipino touch.

The house is designed to be as open to natural ventilation as possible. Sliding doors that disappear into the walls are installed in the living and dining areas on the ground floor. There is also an indoor garden which can be opened up to encourage more ventilation. Opening the large windows blurs the line between the indoor and outdoor spaces. All the bedrooms can be opened directly into the outdoor areas.

The house’s longer side was intentionally designed to open northward facing the mountain views and the sea. The L shape plan also serves as a shade from direct sunlight hitting the swimming pool area.

The rustic finish adds a natural look that complements well with the building’s concept while the capiz windows and the artificial thatch roof highlight the Filipino design aesthetic.
